A painting series to celebrate the beauty of Vitiligo.

Vitiligo is an inherited condition where pale white patches develop on the skin and is caused by the lack of melanin. It is not a disease, nor a negative. This series aims to bring positive awareness of vitiligo, as I have always seen it as something incredibly beautiful. I want to portray the beauty of the marks vitiligo makes, whilst addressing the strength of the person.

My sitters - Carissa, Tom, and Andrea - wear their vitiligo with such beauty and confidence.  Their fearless attitudes inspire me not only as an artist but as a young woman.
